Wasp nests on Sydney eaves, fences, play equipment and wall cavities are a genuine safety issue, especially in warm months. Paper wasps build open combs. European wasps can nest in the ground, in cavities and in wall voids, and they defend those nests aggressively.
Extreme Pest Control NSW treats wasp nests on residential and commercial properties across Greater Sydney. This is not a job for a can of spray and a ladder after dark unless you know exactly what you are dealing with.
What a wasp problem looks like
Paper wasp nests look like small umbrellas of cells under eaves, in barbecues, behind shutters and on fences. Traffic to and from the nest is obvious on a warm day.
European wasps are more of a public-safety pest. They scavenge food and drink outdoors and can nest out of sight. People get stung when mowing, reaching into a cavity, or eating outside near a nest.
Wasps are not bees. They can sting more than once. Nest removal needs the right product, timing and protective approach so the colony is treated rather than scattered.

Stings and why DIY goes wrong
Stings hurt and can be medically serious for people with allergies. Seek emergency care for breathing difficulty or swelling of the throat.
Blocking a nest entrance or poking it with a stick can make wasps erupt into living areas, including inside a wall void that opens into a bedroom.
Some nests are close to neighbours’ yards or public walkways. Leaving them in place is not a small courtesy issue.
How wasp treatment works
We identify the species and nest location, then treat the nest so the colony is affected. Timing and access matter. Wall-cavity and ground nests are handled differently from a small eave comb.
Once the nest is inactive it can often be removed so it does not remain as harbourage or a visual worry. We will tell you if a nest in a difficult void needs a builder for access.
Reducing outdoor food, sealing obvious cavities where practical, and checking play equipment each season lowers the chance of the next nest setting up in the same spot.

FAQs
Should I knock the nest down myself? +
No. Disturbed wasps can sting in numbers, and cavity nests can push insects indoors. Call a technician.
Are they bees or wasps? +
Bees are protected in many situations and are handled differently. If you are unsure, send a photo or describe the nest when you call so we do not treat bees as wasps.
How quickly can you attend a wasp nest? +
Call 0422 646 334. We schedule as soon as we can based on the day’s work and the risk of the nest location.
