Rat Control in Sydney

Rats in Sydney properties usually mean one of two pictures: animals living in the roof void and travelling along fences and trees, or animals burrowing and foraging at ground level around subfloors, compost and waste.

Extreme Pest Control NSW provides rat control for homes and businesses across Greater Sydney. If you have droppings, gnawed packets, or heavy night-time noise in the ceiling, we can inspect and treat the infestation rather than guessing from the kitchen alone.

What a rat problem looks like

Roof rats are agile climbers. They use trees, powerlines, trellises and rough walls to reach eaves. Once inside they nest in insulation and move down into living areas when food is easy. Ground-foraging rats use burrows, dense vegetation, palings and gaps around pipes.

Rats need less of a gap than most people think. A hole the size of a large coin can be enough. Garage door corners, damaged eaves, uncapped vents and gaps beside air-conditioning pipes are typical entry points on Sydney houses.

Commercial sites add loading docks, grease traps and bulk storage. A restaurant or warehouse with rats is a food-safety and reputational problem, not only a nuisance.

Common signs

Why rat infestations should not wait

Rats chew wiring, damage insulation and contaminate food. They also spread quickly through terrace rows and unit blocks via roof spaces and plumbing cavities.

Leaving food, fallen fruit and open bins in place means treatment will not last. The property stays a feeding site for the next animals.

Unsealed entry points make every treatment temporary. Proofing is part of rat control, not an optional extra.

How rat treatment works

We inspect likely harbourage and runways, then place bait stations or traps where rats are actually travelling. Stations are chosen and sited with children, pets and neighbours in mind.

Where burrows are found they can be treated as part of the job. Roof void work may include baiting and, where practical, identifying the eave or fascia gap they used.

We will tell you which trees, vines and gaps are helping them. Some proofing is simple; some needs a builder. Either way you should leave the visit knowing what still needs closing.

FAQs

How much does rat removal cost in Sydney? +

It depends on the size of the property, whether activity is in the roof, yard or both, and how much follow-up is needed. We quote after inspection.

Will I smell something after rats die in the roof? +

It is possible if an animal dies in an inaccessible void. We plan treatments to reduce that risk and can advise if odour appears. Access for removal is not always possible without a builder.

Can rats come back from next door? +

Yes. Shared fences, trees and roof spaces mean neighbouring activity matters. Sealing your building still reduces the chance they set up inside your home.
