Mouse Control in Sydney

Mice move into Sydney homes when the weather cools, when food is stored in paper or thin plastic, or when a garage and kitchen offer nesting sites a few metres apart. They fit through gaps many people would not notice.

Extreme Pest Control NSW treats mouse infestations in houses, units and workplaces across Greater Sydney. The work is part capture or baiting, part finding how they are travelling.

What a mouse problem looks like

Mice leave small pointed droppings in cupboards, behind the toaster, in the pantry and along garage walls. You may hear light scratching in wall cavities. Food packets get tiny chew holes. A musky smell can develop in heavy infestations.

Unlike rats, mice often nest close to food — inside a kitchen void, a stove kickboard, a stored-goods pile or a cluttered laundry. That is why cleaning under appliances matters as much as putting a trap in the middle of the floor.

In units, mice move through service risers and shared storage. Treating one apartment without looking at the bin area and garage can leave the source untouched.

Common signs

Contamination and spread

Mice contaminate far more food than they eat. Droppings in a pantry mean stock should be checked and sealed containers used from then on.

They breed quickly. A small autumn problem becomes a winter population if gaps and food stay as they are.

Chewing is less dramatic than with rats but still damages goods and can involve wiring in kickboards and voids.

How mouse treatment works

We inspect the kitchen, laundry, garage and other likely rooms, then place traps or bait in runways — along walls, behind appliances and in voids — not in open floor space where mice avoid travelling.

Sealing is part of the job: gaps around pipes, damaged flyscreens, garage corner gaps and holes behind the oven. Not every hole can be closed in one visit, but the important ones should be identified.

We will ask you to store food in sealed containers and reduce clutter for a period so monitoring is possible. That is not optional busywork; it is how you see whether activity has stopped.

FAQs

Are glue boards a good idea? +

We prefer methods that are effective and appropriate for the site. Tell us if you have children, pets or objections to particular devices so we can plan accordingly.

Why do I still see a mouse after treatment? +

Remaining animals may take a few days. New animals can also enter if gaps remain. Contact us if activity continues so we can follow up.

Do I need to empty the kitchen? +

You do not need to pack the house. Clearing under the sink, pulling out the fridge if safe, and tidying the pantry helps us treat harbourage properly.
