Flea Control in Sydney

Fleas in a Sydney home usually mean pets, visiting animals, or a previous occupant’s infestation still cycling in carpet. Adult fleas jump onto ankles. The larger problem is eggs and larvae in flooring and furniture.

Extreme Pest Control NSW provides flea treatments for houses and units across Greater Sydney. Lasting results need the property treated and the animals treated — one without the other fails.

What a flea problem looks like

You notice bites around ankles and legs, especially after walking across carpet. Pets scratch constantly. Fleas may be seen on pet bedding or in pale socks after walking through a room.

Larvae live in carpet pile, along skirting and in pet resting areas. They are not killed by treating the dog alone if the house remains infested, and they are not cleared by treating the house alone if the pet is still carrying adults.

Vacant rentals can explode with fleas when heating goes off and then people walk in — pupae hatch in response to vibration and carbon dioxide.

Common signs

Comfort and animal health

Flea bites are miserable and can infect with heavy scratching. Pets can develop skin irritation and, in some cases, tapeworm issues associated with fleas.

Infestations spread through carpeted units and between rooms quickly.

A half-treatment leaves pupae to hatch later, which feels like the job “didn’t work” when it was actually an incomplete cycle.

How flea treatment works

We treat carpets, rugs, pet bedding areas, and other harbourage. Vacuuming before and after is part of the process because it stimulates pupae and removes a portion of the population.

You will need a veterinarian or suitable pet product to treat the animals. We are pest technicians for the building, not vets. Both pieces have to happen.

Follow-up may be needed because pupae can hatch after the first visit. We will explain the expected window of remaining activity.

FAQs

Do I need to leave the house? +

You may need to keep people and pets off treated floors until they are dry. We give timing based on the products used.

Why are there still fleas two days later? +

Pupae can hatch after treatment. That is expected to a point. Ongoing heavy activity means pets, untreated rooms or furniture still need attention.

Can you treat without treating the pet? +

The house can be treated, but the infestation usually returns if animals still carry fleas. Plan both together.
